tzacon Eire is Galway's annual games convention, held on the grounds of NUI, Galway.
You see, NUIG has this student society called FanSci, where lovers of fantasy, scifi, and all the books, films and games that come with that would meet and have fun playing games, watching movies, and going to games conventions around the country. And FanSci often looked at these other games conventions around the country and thought to itself, "Hey, these things are fun, we should organise our own convention sometime". And one day, at the AGM of the society in 2004, one particularly determined woman got elected as chairperson for the society and decreed aloud "FanSci SHALL have a games convention. This I command! Ping! Splat frog frog!"
