Title: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 24 February 2009, 06:57:03 Quote Prepare yourself (and your friends) to join D&D fans all around the world on March 21st for Worldwide D&D Game Day: Player’s Handbook 2. Everything you need to play will be on-hand, so it’s a great chance for new players, as well as veterans, to band together and find some adventure. Come try out the new races (such as the gnome) and the new classes (like the invoker and barbarian) while you battle wicked fiends and thwart dark plots. No matter if you’re new to the game or a 4th Edition veteran; we'll have everything you need to embark on an all-new adventure. The adventure, entitled One Dark Night in Weeping Briar, runs in 2-3 hours and includes five pregenerated 11th-level characters. The characters are: * Ilvarra, drow avenger * Markaria, tiefling invoker * Roswyn, gnome bard * Squeaks, warforged barbarian * Balasar, dragonborn paladin (uses material from the upcoming Divine Power product) In addition to the adventure, there's a trivia activity sheet. Test your knowledge of our 4th Edition releases since the game's launch. from the Wizards of the Coast Website Full details at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/gameday There is one problem though it currently clashes with a HeroClix game so when do we do it Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 24 February 2009, 10:22:36 +:cussing=+::cussing: +:cussing=+::cussing: +:cussing=+::cussing: +:cussing=+::cussing: +:cussing=+::cussing: +:cussing=+::cussing:
Wizards are the biggest load of useless muppets Thats the same day as new set release sealed booster tournament for StarWars Minis. So I'm in that and the shop will be full of SWM players. +:bandhead=+::banghead: Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Snakes in the Tiki Lounge on 24 February 2009, 18:10:55 ...Warforged barbarian? Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit...weird?
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 24 February 2009, 18:43:27 Correction Frog is correct it clashes with the Star Wars Minis release tournament, not a Heroclix tournament B@#**Y dyslexia. Which is worse because they are made by the same B@#**Y people do they not communicate in their B@#**Y Company or do the moppets just fail to realize that people might want to do both star wars minis and world wide D&D day. I don't know >:( look what happens when you put B@#**Y colonials in charge of stuff !!!!!! +:angryfire=+::angryfire: +:angryfire=+::angryfire: +:angryfire=+::angryfire:
/rant Calm now it still poses the same problem how do we sort up this Foul-up? suggestions please could we run D&D day on a Sunday perhaps Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 24 February 2009, 18:49:24 ...Warforged barbarian? Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit...weird? It is as the Warforged are made by advanced Magical technology, since lost and I don't see how one could have become a barbarian where they not all basically fighters to start with and some multi classed after the war. It makes one wonder what Wizards have done to Eberon in 4E Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 24 February 2009, 18:55:33 It's about a month away, so maybe it isn't too late to phone Sal/Phil @ SpiritGames and notify them of the clash. Appropriate pleading may get them to move one event or the other to Mon 23rd or another date. They usually understand a gamers problem and may do all they can to help. :-\
Also, it's obvious warforged have been changed significantly so they can be a new race in PHB2. Oh well, Halflings changed in the PHB but are still food hungry, bare footed, hobbits in my mind. The gnome sounds like a pile of awesome, but sqeaks is a strange name for a warforged, - maybe he talks mouse. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 24 February 2009, 19:31:24 Fret not I will talk to young Phil & all will be well squigly one
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 25 February 2009, 10:20:06 Was planning to discuss it with Phil / Sal tonight.
Me & Andie are planning for Saturday evening > 19:00, whether or not its in the shop we dont know yet. Its only the meetup side thats going to cause problems for the space. Or the most logical idea is more D&D day to wednesday night, simples ;) (meerkat speak) Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 25 February 2009, 10:26:11 I was also planing on talking to Spiritgames about this perhaps we should form a delegation >:D I had forgotten about the meet up people, however running it after hours on the same Saturday is not a bad idea at all well done Frog < goes off to look for the patronising smiley>
O look I found it +:notworthy=+::notworthy: +:notworthy=+::notworthy: Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 25 February 2009, 11:29:02 Oh crap that sounds like a plan and I thought of it,
Which means................. Its Brilliant but rubbish and some say 'He has brilliant ideas', some say 'He talks B**%$$££ all the time' and all we know is if it works then an ancient one could awaken and the world will be destroyed and my brain could go bang and blah blah blah blah, men in white coats have just arrived here and I'm being carried away, blah blah blah. Hello to who's reading this. This is Arkham Asylum. Hope you are well enough to play by this Saturday otherwise I win three nil by default which is not as much fun as thrashing you in person. >:D Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 26 February 2009, 10:28:52 This has been sorted out the plan so far is to have the meetup "people" run world wide D&D day in the day alongside the Starwars Minis' tournament evicting them to the Coopers in the event of there being too many to fit in Spirit.
There would then be a special session of world wide D&D day after hours in the shop for the select few who are also doing the Starwars Mini's I stand to be corrected as this is a precee of a long and rambling conversation between Frog & SpiritGames of this parish I may have missed something vital. >:D Ginger Update I have Just E-mailed SpiritGames re this with all the sign up details for this and will drop in at 10am to remind SpiritGames in person. >:D Ginger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 26 February 2009, 11:05:13 Correct plan. ;D
I will be booking the room at the Coopers tonight. Phil should be emailing Len today about the venue change and how many people will be wanting Player 2 handbooks, starting time etc. If required I'll drop Len a quick email tomorrow to confirm the venue and times etc. The Coopers is for Meetup + Burton group who are not playing Minis and want to play during the Day. Currently I think there are only 3 of us who are Mini's and want to go for the evening session. Any comments from anyone please. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Snakes in the Tiki Lounge on 26 February 2009, 16:29:50 So, saturday, right? With most running in the afternoon, and a re-run for the star-warsers after seven? That's probably for the best, because I could actually make it to a post-seven game. (Just about).
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 26 February 2009, 16:56:27 I am just on my way to see Spirit games about this and to remind him about the e-mail registration etc, would have done so earlier but still am not over my cold quite and seem to have bouts of post viral fatigue still
>:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 26 February 2009, 18:44:55 Have spoken to Spiritgames and the registration is done and there was no need to panic young Frog it may not appear on Wizards list but Spirit will be getting the Event support which is what matters (IMO)
SpiritGames is contacting the Meet up people now he knows how to get the organizers e-mail address and should do so this evening >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 27 February 2009, 11:32:38 Update
Nothing posted on the Meetup Calendar about WW D&D yet. Room at Coopers cannot be booked on a Saturday, its a arrive on the day and see if space is available. There should be as long as theres no rugby on the TV that day, but there should be space in the main area of pub. If not Devvy or Roebuck will have to the reserve locations. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 27 February 2009, 15:28:15 Ok will chase Spiritgames about contacting Meetup but if he has contacted the Meet up organizer don't expect fast results as the organizer in question isent in my experience at all organized or fast. However once we have done our bit that's no longer our problem.
The Roebuck will also be heaving if there is woofterball on don't forget so if the Coopers is full because of woofterball so will the Roebuck. Not sure about the Devi but if our favourite beer delivery person is on several of the Meetup "people" may become occularly challenged >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 27 February 2009, 18:50:37 Let it be known i'm as keen as Colman's Mustard about DMing for the day in one of the morning sessions! Like an eager beaver, i'm frustrated that the Meetup aren't sorting it yet, but well done E.Ginge for sorting stuff. Can't wait, esp. as Raiders is a week later or so.
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 28 February 2009, 00:48:59 all in hand and I am sure you can DM as there it always an orderly rush of experienced DM's wanting to play.
Spiritgames has E-mailed the Meetup bloke and awaits a reply PS dont tell any one but crazyfrog also helped out. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: pagbsc on 28 February 2009, 14:53:27 +:wave=+::wave:
err, guys..I am one of the Meetup organisers. In fact I am an organiser for both East and West meetup groups. Give us the details and I'll put it up for you. Same goes for any other events. Peter Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 28 February 2009, 15:49:10 Well, it's March 21st and involves Worldwide D&D day making people play a short one-off with the new stuff from PHB2 (See start of this thread for more). As for the starting time, Ginge or Frog may have discussed it with Phil from Spirit when they were organising stuff. Mostly i'm posting to Applaud an organiser for being responsive and useful. ;)
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: pagbsc on 28 February 2009, 17:01:29 Useful...now I never said anything about being useful ;)

Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 12 March 2009, 20:43:37 Have emailed Len on behalf of Phil to setup DnD for Meetup.
Event is now listed on Meetup's Calendar and Len is going to find some DM's for the day. He was also asking who from Burton group was going to the event. I said some of us where in SWM @ the shop and the others I have no idea about. So space is available for players, see Meetup for details. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 12 March 2009, 21:58:29 I can back frog up on this as I was in the shop when Len called Phil about this not sure what the arrangement is but there are arrangements :)
>:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 16 March 2009, 22:34:05 Now posted as an event on the friends of Spiritgames group on Farce Book, perhaps a bit late but its up I was waiting for definitive information on arrangements but I am going to be of line for a bit so needed to get something up quickly
>:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 22 March 2009, 10:13:33 owing to some confusion about organizing this the evening session did not go as planed and will be run at a latter date. There was one game played in the shop run ably by Dat of this Parish during the day when the starwars tournament was being run. It seemed to be a lot of fun but I will leave it to Dat to report on it properly. I did manage to take pictures and I will post them here and on the Friends of spiritgames group on face book.
Over to you DAT <looks around for the pesky squirrel> >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Zarniwoop on 23 March 2009, 21:24:36 I think after unfortunate turnout on the day tath we could do with organising a second event at the Shop starting early (as apparently this module is Looong) with the usual lunch break at the Devvy.
So We need DM(s), players and a suitable Saturday when Phil can accomodate a large number of Roleplayers. So who is up for this please respond, if we get enough people we can split up into multiple games assuming we can get enough volunteer DM's etc. If you know people who are interested and not members please mention this in your reply (then ask them why they are not members yet +:laughing7=+::laughing7: ) Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 23 March 2009, 21:41:10 I would volunteer to DM and I think we could manage two full size groups as there are five pregen characters available in the module .
all we need is a date and some >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: pagbsc on 23 March 2009, 22:14:37 I'd be up for it if I am free on the chosen weekend.
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: whitefire on 23 March 2009, 22:15:10 I'd love to play in this, and then I'll volunteer to run it on B&P as well if there is demand.
I'll also run it over in Derby a couple of times. Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: pagbsc on 23 March 2009, 22:17:01 Can I be the Bard please...promise not to bring my guitar though :-)
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 23 March 2009, 22:30:41 bring the guitar and your barred >:D otherwise of course you can all we need is to organise a date to do the rerun. The new take on the bard class is rather interesting and as I mentioned in the review I did very customisable.

If we can schedule it for a time when you and carol can definately be there, he's more than happy to run his then. Will no doubt see about having a word with Phil about all this on wednesday, as we'll all be milling around anyhow. :) Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 25 March 2009, 19:30:44 Oh please let me actually DM an entire adventure. Pleeeeeeaaaaaase!
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: whitefire on 27 March 2009, 02:42:18 As I have just posted on another (probably the wrong) thread, I thought I'd put this up on the East Mids D&D site to see what leel of interest there is. I'll run it or play it -I don't mind which.....
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 31 March 2009, 10:48:27 when are we going to re run this for those of us who missed out on it the first time around, I cant do it at B&P as I have my own stuff to run
Helpful suggestions appreciated >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 31 March 2009, 14:00:52 *cough* i have the adventure with me still and can run (/ruin?) it for who-ever, whenever (excluding wed, thurs, sun). Get enough people to sign up and i'll run it for those who can't wait for B&P or can't go.
Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 31 March 2009, 15:28:45 good lad consider me signed up I will see if I can get anyone else involved on Wednesday night, not run it then but encourage interest. I will also put it up on Friends of spirit games on face book

Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: CrazyFrog on 31 March 2009, 18:47:03 Have been in Spirit today and spotted an interesting flyer.
Monster Manual 2 - 23rd May - WorldWide DnD Game Day. Having looked on the Wizards site (http://www.dndgameday.com), I'm starting to suspect there could be another DND day. If not this day could be a good date for rerun's, it will be the weekend after B&P, so we should have recovered by that +:beer=+::beer: Also on the main webpage (http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4news/20090331) there's a UK news letter with info and freebies :D I'm going to sign up and see what goodies it delivers. I think I'm getting the hang of this linking stuff ;D Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 31 March 2009, 20:14:57 Just so people know, i'm not trying to steal players from Jim. - I wish to live (just about). Dat Just so you know Whitefire is a great big softie, unlike me who dreams of wading in the blood of his enemies every night :) >:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: EvilGinger on 31 March 2009, 20:20:16 Esteemed frog That sounds interesting but if so I think there might be another scenario with MM2 monsters and I would like to road test the PHB2 character classes before Beer and Pretzels as I want to include them in my endurance dungeon. Which I will be running at Beer & Pretzels
>:DGinger Title: Re: World Wide D&D day Post by: Dat on 01 April 2009, 18:20:20 Like EvilGinger said, i think there would be a different adventure involved. The most recent one had some monsters from MM2 anyway! - Are we to play Brain Moles, Dung Snakes and Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing's (http://www.headinjurytheater.com/article73.htm)?!
I also believe that you only get goodies if you make other people sign up to the same newsletter. This is a devisive scenario that Wizards also used with MTG players, as i imagine only one person in a group of friends gets the goodies while everyone else just gets bothered by spam. |
