Title: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: CrazyFrog on 21 July 2008, 10:06:34 Arkham Summer League Play
Over this summer the city of Arkham is going to be crawling with monsters, mayhem, and magic! It is up to you and your team of investigators to combat the forces of the Great Old Ones as they try to devour our reality. Gather your forces and compete against other teams across the world, as you take on ten scenarios each harder than the last. Every two weeks a new scenario will be posted, and teams will scramble to beat the Ancient One quickly and efficiently. The following guidelines will tell you what you need to battle these foes. Guidelines A team can consist of 2-8 investigators. All players can choose which investigator they would like to be. A player may not change investigators unless they are devoured during a game. Each scenario may be played multiple times, but a League Results form must be filled out after every time, and only the best result will be used. The first and second scenarios will be from the base game. Scenarios 3 and 4 will include elements from the Dunwich Horror. Scenarios 5 and 6 will include elements from The King in Yellow. Scenarios 7 and 8 will include elements from The Curse of the Dark Pharaoh and Kingsport. The final two scenarios will include elements from all the sets. Scenarios Scenario 1: Tide of Serpents Prepare to do battle against an ancient menace in "Snake In The Grass." Scenario 2: Masquerade Ball With the defeat of the reptilian menace Yig, the streets of Arkham calmed down. People rested, recovered, and rearmed. These days people just aren't who they seem to be. Everyone keeps talking of a stranger about town, but no one remembers his name or quite what he looked like… This looks great fun, probably more than the normal game, for those experienced players. As scenario get run and new ones posted, I'll update the post. Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Zarniwoop on 21 July 2008, 15:15:35 So when are we going to plan a game of this and where do we play!?
We could use the shop on a free saturday and use the extending table or if we have moved (?!???!?) we could play at our new place. Might be a bit awkward at ours at the mo what with all the boxes and all :-[ Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: CrazyFrog on 22 July 2008, 10:58:28 If its a Saturday it would be in the middle of August.
Or it could be a Wednesday nighter, I could have the board preset and ready in 5 minutes (Be nice if players chose there characters in advance) Also need to think of a name for the team. I'm thinking of 'Insane in Arkham' , 'Insanity r Us' , 'Duck & Cover its a druid' 8) Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: EvilGinger on 22 July 2008, 19:12:45 I like the last one best & am painting an Elf Druid with a Sword and shield <hint> I would also love to play arkham Btw.
Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: CrazyFrog on 24 July 2008, 01:28:44 OK theres a plan, which like all gaming plans will go in the wrong direction and something else will happen ;D
The plan is Wednesday 30th July start Scenario 1 at Spirit Games You will need to book in advance and choose your investigator card, these will appear in the other thread Investigator Cards over the next couple of days. I will arrive with the board preset for the Scenario and investigators setup, it makes starting the game quicker. I'm thinking the name of the team (required for posting results on Fantasy Flight website) will be 'Duck and Cover its a druid' Currently it looks like the players are CrazyFrog Zarniwoop Oskar Philz Evil Ginger ? Please comment or sign up if interested or would like more information. Your insane Arkham leader CrazyFrog (Yes I have the certificate to prove I'm insane for Arkham) Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: EvilGinger on 24 July 2008, 06:41:45 I am in for definite on the 30th if thats the plan

Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: CrazyFrog on 27 July 2008, 11:12:40 Update for the current plan on Wednesday 30th July
Currently players are CrazyFrog Zarniwoop Oskar Philz Evil Ginger Zombie Lord Zombie Lord's Guest There's one space left, which I may play 2 characters, so there's a spare for future, as once the scenarios start (Total of 8) New players cannot join, but could use someone else's character if they are not available for the session. If this works it should link you to the Investigator Card listing so you can choose your character in advance. http://bigbangburgerbar.co.uk/Forum/index.php?topic=348.msg830#msg830 (http://bigbangburgerbar.co.uk/Forum/index.php?topic=348.msg830#msg830) Why in advance? It save me time on Wednesday night in setting up the game at all. Please post your top 3 choices just in case someone else bids for it first. (Characters on first come bases) If no one objects I would like: Diana Stanley - The Redeemed Cultist Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Zarniwoop on 27 July 2008, 12:15:57 Any of these will do for me :o
Name: Wilson Richards - Handyman Name: Lily Chen - Martial Artist Name: Mandy Thompson - The Researcher Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Arnu on 28 July 2008, 13:52:47 Hiya Frog
Tiki would like to take up the last place on the list. Arnu Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Pallet Ranger on 28 July 2008, 13:53:14 So..... is anyone NOT going to be playing Arkham on Wednesday?
Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Zarniwoop on 28 July 2008, 13:56:18 Probably Richard, Phil, Sally, any of the other semi-regulars is they turn up...
Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: CrazyFrog on 28 July 2008, 14:03:52 I think the back table is nice to use for the game, but the space could be too small for 8 players.
So I may have to move table around the shop. Currently players are CrazyFrog - Redeemed Cultist Zarniwoop - Handyman Oskar Philz Evil Ginger Zombie Lord Zombie Lord's Guest Tiki Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: EvilGinger on 28 July 2008, 16:52:59 I think the back table opens up but if all else fails we can throw the Roleplayers out as the Coopers will always welcome the trade.
would prefer to play either Harvey Walters - The Professor or Dexter Drake - The Magician Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Oskar on 28 July 2008, 22:10:46 Update for the current plan on Wednesday 30th July Currently players are CrazyFrog Zarniwoop Oskar Philz Evil Ginger Zombie Lord Zombie Lord's Guest Oskar............. My choices are :- Name: Lola Hayes - Actress Name: Charlie Kane - Politician Name: Jim Culver - Musician There's one space left, which I may play 2 characters, so there's a spare for future, as once the scenarios start (Total of 8) New players cannot join, but could use someone else's character if they are not available for the session. I think the answer is yes and that's the way it will be played for the summer event. Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play - Game in progress Post by: CrazyFrog on 04 August 2008, 12:06:38 In the true spirit of Arkham and Top Gear I was 'brilliant but rubbish'.
The problem was, it was soooo hot in Spirit experienced players were having problems thinking straight. Some others including myself just were not in the frame of mind for a long 4 hour game. As its also a scenario requiring the use of the some number of players for 8+ games, it quickly became apparent that the whole idea was going to be a problem, so after 1 hour with 3 elder signs down (good going team :D ) and looking like 3 more easliy be place. The game was scrapped. Many thanks to the players for taking part and moving the table, sorry for having to scrap the game part way. The new plan is a max of 6 players, requiring 3 / 4 core players for all the scenarios. This allows players to join for 1 game if they wish, but there investigator is fixed to the ongoing game. The questions are now. Core players 1) Me 2) 3) 4) Next date to try again? Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: Zarniwoop on 04 August 2008, 15:08:46 Count me in :)
Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: EvilGinger on 04 August 2008, 17:40:25 count me out for now I need the casual board gaming approach at the moment & its still too hot

Title: Re: Arkham Summer League Play Post by: pagbsc on 24 September 2008, 18:56:11 The dodgy part or the nice part?
Brother-in-law lives around there, so could be an opportunity to use a babysitting credit. (took their kids on holiday, so many babysitting credits owing ;D). Give us enough warning on dates and I will see what I can do. |
