Big Bang Burger Bar

This will be the lead in point for Laura's further adventures when I get the chance to post them but its time to go to work.

The village under the elms is like very many small settlements on the eastern edge of the hundred kingdoms it consists of what is little more than a large clearing, in the woods,  split into dry stone walled plots  growing mostly vegetables  then a cluster of small single story pit houses around the elms which give the village its name and the largest of which is the villages god tree. it is approached over the highest ford on the river Nevin an then by a cart track barely wider than an animal track and seldom used by any cart as there are none in the village and  even the guild pedlar comes here on foot on her yearly visits


As the company approach in single file along the track the jangling of their horse harness disturbs a herd of half wild pigs which scatter deeper into the woods which the graze.

 "here we are" announces Jurvinal  in his characteristic rather sing song tone

"Excellent! Shall we look around or go straight to introduce ourselves?"

Jurvinal "continues the people here where friendly but it has been some time since  I visited and there are rumours about this place I heard at the last town which make me fearful. These are troubled times in the hundred Kingdoms"

George stirs in his bed & believing Jurvinal, Kayoba nods to Laura and says "well I think we can handle this" in a quiet voice of command, however Laura knows him well enough to know he is not that confident & this is the training of the Dragon Blooded to take command kicking in, if it where Yofahu she could believe it but not so much Kayoba.

"Hmm. Well, prepare for the worst, but we may as well go straight to do our job..."

*Laura looks around to try and determine which house belongs to the most powerful / influential resident*

 The village consists of just over a dozen houses which are study and built of wood plastered with mud and roved with wooden shingles, these are surrounded by a larger number of more rickety out houses and animal pens. All the houses are in good repair but some of them at the west end of the village look very new as the wooden tiles are unweathered

No house looks that much more impresive than any other but there is a large scorch mark in the centre of the village marked out by painted stones

OOC With apologies for the delay as I have had a cold which has rather put me out of action of late but its clearing up so lets carry on


The scorch mark is an odd shape, but it is very tightly delineated one and seems to have been caused by something like a huge burst of flame which has hardened the earth like iron and blackened it. Nothing grows form it unlike the rest of the village square though the land  much trampled does sprout the odd patch of scrubby grass and weeds. The stones which edge it are all of a similar size and all have been very carefully placed and apparently white washed.

Sneaks into the village following the newcomers so she can observer them whilst being unobserved.

[you form the opinion that the two inspecting the scorch mark are brother and sister was what he sent can we take it form there? I just had to edit out his usual waffle

(Many sorry for the delay, can I beg forgiveness on having had the flu for three weeks? :D I've been a bit dippy ^^)

"Well, I think we're going to have to ask someone for information or directions... It might be a good idea to get some local information first before we barge in anyway? Any suggestions?"

Looking around there seem to be several locals going about their bushiness but at least some of them are watching you whilst they do this.

Apart form the children who seem to see any newcomer as excitement in an otherwise fairly routine life who are watching openly & not even pretending to be about the tasks they are supposed to be. The Boldest watcher is the village smith who is slowly shaping some sort of tool but taking his time to study the two strangers.

OK this seems to have stalled, what follows is what I think is going on


Laura & Keyoba are about to go & talk to the black smith about the scorch mark, whilst Erozillia  hides in the shadows of one of the houses & watches to see what happens.

*Approach the Blacksmith*

"Good day, we've just arrived in the village and were slightly curious about the scorch mark in the middle of the village?"

OOC dont fret we all have busy lives

He stops working and waits for you to  approach & speak he seems a trifle in awe of the glittering jade armour Laura is wearing. Jurvinal slips into the background behind Laura and Kayoba stays by the scorch mark and seems to be casting spells

*Laura smiles in a friendly and non threatening manner*

"It's just the area seems to be marked out and look significant and we were a touch curious about it"

The smith clears his throat and speaks, a little  haltingly as if he is uncomfortable with talking with strangers, He barely specks any language Laura knows but the "Visitors pass to heaven" works its magic.

The smith who is very and expressively respectful   says that was where the god from Lookshy killed the fair folk lord in the spring

Iron Oak continues the fair folk came from the place of the broken teeth deep in the the forest. An evil place from whence they come for the first born child of each family as they come every fifth year as tithe for allowing the village to live at all. This spring they came and demanded there right but a newcomer to the village decided to stop them and despite appearances turned out to have the power of the gods as you do & she smote down the fair folk lord and cleansed the place of the broken teeth of the fairfolk before departing

"Where did the newcomer go after besting the Fair Folk?"

Amy sees a boy in his early teens possibly an apprentice slip out of the back of the forge as she arrives to speak to the Blacksmith

The Smith is very formal sand explains that the stranger  departed the area having cleared the fair folk out of the place of the broken teeth returning only to reassure the villagers that they where safe. He indicates an empty house on the village square

Erozillia sees a boy with a sooty face slip out of the back of the Blacksmiths and disappear  into the surrounding woods whilst the Sister is talking to the Blacksmith whilst the Brother is doing some sort of Geomancy  around the scorch mark

Erozillia notes the boys leaving but decides he will be easy enough to track later but continues to watch the brother and sister in the square

 Erozillia the brother is conducting some sort of geomantic analysis this seems to be conman mortal magic and not a charm 

The Black smith continues to talk & he appears to be trying to spin the conversation out


what is Laura going to do? and what of the boy you saw slip out the back?

Laura inquires if the empty house belonged to the stranger, while making a note of what the boy she saw slip off looked like as far as she could tell.

The blacksmith said that it belonged to the village like all of the houses but the stranger rented it since the village did not have any one to live in it and an empty house is an ill omen. As he is the hetman and the stranger seems to have no use for it having moved on he asks  if Laura and her companions would like to rent it. He offers to show her round , he defiantly seems to be playing for time.

By the scorch mark Kayoba has a note pad out and is making notes with an architects pencil in it he may have found something.

Laura is fairly certain she would recognise the boy if she saw him again he had a rather distinctive hair colour grey and some what metallic looking odd on some one in his early teens.

Ezrollia noticed that to & thinks it a tough of elemental blood or possibly a wild mutation.

Ezrollia continues to watch events and eaves drop the conversation if she can
