The Priests withdrawing room is pleasantly if modestly  furnished lit by a pair of ever flame torches and heated by an expertly banked up fire in the grate, there is food a decent thick vegetable stew with yesterday's bread washed down by a tankard of wheat beer, all served by the novice on night duty

Sits down in the not unfamiliar surroundings not at all comfortable at first but a good meal reminds him of quite how hungry he has been of late since the money ran out and he was forced to resort to labouring. He is busy enough eating to stay silent and let others speak

Galdor "Burp, pardon, is there any more beer?"

Galdor again.
"So why were the two of you looking for a common thief who steals supper and why would you suppose that common thief would be me?"
And to Merideth "I don't think you got around to explaining why you were after a source of evil"

Selengil
Passing Galdor the ale jug "Some one stole my meal at the flop house over the road and I heard the door go but did not see who left and when I ran out onto the street I ran into, him" nods towards Gotfried "and I think now I may have lost the thief then but we carried on looking for a while before we ran into you."

Merideth grins showing a mouth full of razor sharp fangs " I am always looking for Evil its the only way you can keep it from getting out of hand & I think one of the gnomes at the Trevit  yard is Evil I just did not get close enough to sense which one" She grins it would be a nice grin, but for the teeth.

Galdor
Looking at Merideth, "Damn girl, you are going to scare someone grinning like that.  The reason I was snooping around the wagon works was probably along the lines that you were.  I met up with a halfling in the flop house"
At this point looks over at Selengil.
"Who had a hard luck story about his pony farm and all the bad things pointed back at a character Helviticus Trevit.  I first went to the residence of this character and was a little shocked to overhear some gnomish chattering which abruptly changed into some sort of priestly chanting"
Galdor glances over at Gotfried
"I then moved to the wagon works where my chance meeting with this delightful lady," winks at Merideth,
"was rudely interrupted by a group of gnomish thugs who chased us away"

To Galdor, "So to lay the first issue to rest you did not in fact steal poor Selngil's meal, it was some other down and out? It just so happened that you left on your errand just as Selngil realised that his meal had gone missing."

"Our paths crossed" I motion to Selngil "when in his excitement, one of our acolytes mistakenly thought Selngil was a Celestial deity. Not being totally convinced I humoured him and followed him into the street, after all not all things are as meets the eye" I say looking at Meredith. "I do believe however that things are guided by our deity's hand so these events did not transpire without reason - which it appears is the case here."

"I suspect then, that you are in the employ of this halfling Galdor?"

"As to this chanting, my suspicions were right, our meeting was no coincidence. A source of potential evil in this city is something I will not tolerate, it must be rooted out."

Turn to Meredith "And as for you Meredith you say you hunt evil. How did you become aware of this gnome Trevit?"

Meredith "good sir the thing is I am not sure which of the group of gnomes was evil but one of them was defiantly and most of them seem more thugs than the apprentices they purport to be. I have been trying to isolate the source for days and Gentle elf you are not the first one I have seen with an interest in the Trevit gnomes the other was a halfling a gentleman farmer by his dress who was asking questions and prying into their business, however not I think with a mind to buying a cart though I have head they are well made and serviceable"

Selngil

(to Gotfried)" I understand I have been mistaken for one before which has been the cause of some embarrassment and inconvenience in the past between myself and the Celestial order"

(to Galdor ) "I am no master tracker and in all likely hood I lost the track of the thief, and over reacted when we met, mostly because I had seen you at the poor house"

(to Merideth) " I am inclined to agree with the good elf, what manner of creature are you?"

"Well thats our cards on the table. The hobbit paid me a retainer to investigate the problems he is having at his pony farm.  All things point at this Gnome, Trevit."

"I suggest we team up to investigate further, unless you have something more pressing to attend to." Looking at the others in the room.

Meredith
"I am in what sort of trouble?"

Glancing over at Merideth and edging behind Gotfried.
"Err, I don't think you are, Merideth"
Scans around looking for the exit.

Meredith

laughs " I said I am in, what sort of trouble is the halfling having?" smiles toothily at Galdor " I told you your not evil so your quite safe round me, so dont be so jumpy. I think it spoils the cosy atmosphere"

Galdor
"Ah good, just a misunderstanding, I am not used to the dialect here, having spoken mainly elven for so many years."
Galdor sidles back around to stand next to Gotfried.

"Well, the hobbit who has hired me believes a bunch of Gnomes are trying to put him out of business, they have tried to buy him out but he is having none of it.  There is a gnome called Helviticus Trevit about whom I mentioned earlier, plus he mentioned a human called Vrax."

"I don't know of the next step.  I would like to get in touch with Master Proudifeet, the hobbit. But don't have anything solid to offer him, except to reassure him I am on the case."

Selngil

"I would not know either as what we have is very vague and possibly difficult to link together if indeed it it linked perhaps the whole thing is a coincidence, all be it a bit of an odd one. What would you say Gotfried you dont seem to think they exist."

Looks at Gotfried "What don't you think exist, Gnomes?"

"Anyway," Yawns and stretches and looks at Gotfried "is there anywhere I can take a nap, as I probably won't be able to get back into the flop house tonight"

OOC Sorry been out of the loop for the last couple of weeks - I think I have had the worst 2 weeks of my entire working career!
Should be back in shortly - just read the notes to catch up, have some ideas I need to pen - will do shortly.

 “It is late now, let us take time to sleep on this matter and we can reconvene in the morning. You are welcome to sleep here in the house of the gods” says Gottfried, making a mental note of the rooms contents. “You can all rest here safe under the watchful eye of the Celestials, the night vigil acolytes can tend to you should you need anything”

To Galdor “Perhaps you should summon your Halfling employer tomorrow so that we may question him some more as I suspect there is something he is not telling us, or something the Gnomes want that he is unaware of.”

“Gods rest you well” and with that Gottfried will retire to his chamber.

Is more than happy to make himself comfortable in the chair he is sitting in as the good ale and the unexpectedly filling meal have there effect.

Galdor
Looks around for a place to stretch out, back to one wall and preferably away from the mad spellcasting one.  Ideally he will keep the purple chick with the teeth between him and the doorway.
Sleep comes and so does a dream.
He moves through the forest silently, at one with nature, he can smell deer and soon finds their tracks.  He moves swiftly along the trail until he can spot the creatures in the distance. Moving more slowly now he circles around to get a clear shot and pulls his bow from its leather protective sheath, he fits an arrow to the string and clears his mind.  He slowly draws the arrow back but before he is at full stretch something startles the deer, they look up and flee the clearing. He knows he has made no noise and waits to see what caused the deer to flee. Seconds pass but they could be minutes. Nothing appears in the clearing but his sense cause him to turn around where he sees the biggest wolf ever running towards him and starting to leap.  He has one chance only to shoot the beast in it's heart in mid leap, he looses the arrow which flies true but somehow bounces off the beast, the teeth drip saliva and he feels the heat of the wolfs breath on his skin.
Galdor wakes up in a sweat and looks around the room.

Ok thank you every one I will move things along when I get to work tonight, Edit for Slugs benefit I will be moving things to the following morning so people can get to the Hobbit & report back

Sorry about the delay but I am having an "exiting time" at work as we now are under police guard at work <JOY> which is all I can say realy so be back to you when I get home. thank you for bearing with me.

the dawn breaks over Kultekakun on a fine autumnal morning and the city even a slum like that which surrounds the temple complex is gilt with silver and gold as the frost reflects of the hoar frost. In the temple beyond the songs of the morning rites can be heard & they warm most hearts

Galdor wakes early following a poor nights sleep and moves quietly to the fireplace and gently stirs the embers and places a log on the fire to help ward off the morning chill to the air.  He squats by the fireplace and looks at his sleeping companions.  He mulls over what he knows about them –
Meredith, definitely do not get on the wrong side of her, she looks like one whose bite might be worse than her bark. 
Selngil, quick to anger apparently but if he has magic to back up his actions then could be very useful in the forthcoming investigation.
Gotfried, a good man to have on your side when the fists start flying.
With Merideth and Gotfried pretty determined to root out evil then Galdor has some good allies.  He listens to the sound of the distant prayers and smiles and greets his comrades as they wake.

Galdor
"Ooh porridge, that makes me feel hungry, where are the kitchens Merideth? I suppose I should get an extra bowl for Selngil"

Selengil
stirs in his chair the smell of porridge turning his gut and bringing back too many old and unhappy memories.

Merideth takes a spoon full of porridge and eats it ostentatiously, " rather good this " then looks at Galdor who is the only one obviously awake & says "are we to early to go and see your boss?"

Selengil groans "take it away"

To Selengil " The porridge is nourishing and we may have a long day ahead of us, eat up."

To Merideth "I am not sure whether master Proudifeet would have stayed at the flophouse, I think he was just there to recruit.  However theres only one way to find out.  Lets see if the priest is interested in coming and get over there".

Meredeth talks as she finishes off her porridge "I think master Gotfried is bury with the morning rite., but otherwise I like your plan Galdor" she flashes Galdor a very toothy smile. "shall we go & let master slugabed wake in his own time" she gestures at the stirring Selengil.
