Title: Athlas at Raiders
Post by: EvilGinger on 25 June 2010, 20:00:03
I will be running a continuation of the Dark Sun encounters game if any one wants to take part pleas say so I intend to run for two 2-3 hour sessions over the day to give people a chance to have a go at any other games they might like on the day.

as it will be a Pick up game I will be using Pregened characters though they will be TIKIFIED so they will be able to do what they do well.

Still getting back on to topic DAT has confirmed that they will be back for the next raiders and hungry for human or near human contact. So it looks like I will have two players for my Game and others are more than welcome.

The Political situation in Tyr is in spiralling out of control, even the stupidest Mul could see that. The revolutionaries have by over throwing Kalak & destroying his templars exposed all the cracks in the city's society which where being held together by that oppressive force.

To be continued......

Hello!

I was hoping to get to the last day (I am but a mere newb) and am aiming to come along to this one.

If I managed to, can I sign up to take part in your RPG please?

Is there anything I need to do in advance?

Cheers,

TSD.

The characters you play usually come with the adventure so;

bring a pencil and paper if you want to make notes / note hit points
bring a set of polyhedral dice if you have some

i usually bring nothing because i forget, and it turns out fine. Go forgetfulness!

I believe characters can be created for this, but as the character builder won't be updated in time, I think it's best to double check anything along those lines with the DM.

Otherwise, listen to the skwirl.

If character builder is updated on the 21st  as rumoured. Then I should have characters a plenty, but if not I will have a smaller selection as I will have to house rule them individually to get them to work for Dark sun having roughed them out with character builder as is. I dont think Tiki will have time to optimise them in either event.

I would also like the Adventure tools updated as it would make encounter building easy

however if you roll your own I dont mind just dont try to smoke them in the hall  +:laughing9=+::laughing9:

I've since seen a blog post confirming that they won't make the september update at all, it's taking them longer than they'd hoped.

If one of us can obtain the books, I suggest simply sorting any non-supplied-by-wotc characters out as standard before-hand, then adding on the theme (just the base benefits it gives you at level 1, not worrying about swapping out later powers) and maybe having people roll for a psionic quirk?

Question is, can the DM scratch the flash money together to get hisself the required book/s? :)

I should have time to tweak some characters, but if you're putting a stack of them together, keep them built to their racial and class strengths and nothing too complex, will cut down on work involved.

To be fair, I suspect the Character builder team is one guy and a small dog, to be honest, so it's really a fairly big ask for it to be this month. Still, it's a shame.

That's what i thought too, from the amount of mistakes/bugs that show up and the length of time it takes for things to come out. He must also be unutterably wealthy from all those £15 monthly subscriptions though, - unless Wizards have him locked in the basement of their giant corporate tower made from recycled banknotes.

The little dog is a Chihuahua called Pedro. He runs memos back and forth through a doggy-flap in the locked basement door.

Sanchez (The programmer) doesn't get a sniff of the subscription money, Datman. He gets minimum wage and a commission based on the percentage of new subscriptions each month in direct comparison to the previous month.

Also, they don't use the notes as building material, that would be silly. Something has to fuel the pseudo-victorian fireplaces in the executive suite of the WotC Giant Corporate Tower! ;)

Update

Getting back onto topic

I now have the Pregens roughed out using character builder and we have

Kavalk
Defender:    Dwarf            Fighter        Theme Gladiator
ex Gladiator, born free but like many freemen in Tyr dirt poor became a gladiator for the money and retired after the big organised games stopped with the revolution. (could change to a Mul quite easily)
GOR
Defender:    Human           Fighter         Theme None
ex Soldier Deserted from the army of Tyr during the revolt when it became apparent that the sorcerer king was dead his unit murdered its Templars & officers and dispersed without taking much part in the fighting.

Sulveck
Defender     Mul                Battle mind             Theme None
a minor Templar of Kalak who survived the revolt trained as a body guard for a higher ranking Templar to whom he was bonded psionicaly. Released when the Templar was killed but hideously scared by wounds he got trying to save his master (could quite easily be changed to a dwarf)

Jedar Sharp Eye
Striker:       Human           Ranger                   Theme Dune Trader
Caravan escort/guide came in from Nibonay with a caravan about three weeks ago and having recovered is looking for work

Syl
Striker:       Half elf           Rogue                    Theme Escaped Slave
City Thief escaped slave originally who has been hiding in the poor districts of Tyr ever since keeping his head down & scratching a living by thievery & thuggery. Belives the master from whom he escaped was slain in the revolt and anyway slavery is now illegal in Tyr isn't it

Harlaz
Striker:       Human           Seeker                    Theme  Waste land nomad
Avenging desert nomad Raiders destroyed his people, and the oasis they had protected for generations for a quick profit & he wants revenge except he knows little of city folk or where his enemy's came from.

Krishkar
Controller:   Dragon born    Psion                       Theme None
a prisoner awaiting execution who escaped during the revolt, quite what his crimes against the old regime where only he knows and he isn't telling

Sul Kur Veran
Leader:       Human           Ardent                    Theme Noble Adept
Dispossessed scion of a noble house crushed by Kalak just before the revolt, seeks to rebuild his house

or bring your own, start at  2nd level no magic items no metal weapons or armour no  divine classes or hybrids with divine classes,  though one and only one divine multi class might be allowed but will be first level.

I am working on the first three encounters at the moment and will depending on numbers either run one game in two sessions of 3 hours or two games as single 3 hour sessions.

Looking forward to it

pregens now updated to include themes those which don't may well develop one if an appropriate one appears but until then will get two rolls on the wild talent table and chose which to keep if they latter take a theme.

As general information I was going to post this event officially on the Wizards system (WPN) but have been unable to do so owing to the awkwardness of that system despite reading FAQ's and an exchange of e-mails with customer service. Its too late to do so now and WTC have ticked me off+++ to the point where.....  +:cussing=+::cussing: +:angryfire=+::angryfire: +:angryfire=+::angryfire:

I wouldn't bother doing the game except that people are looking forward to it & I have put a lot of work into it already and it will be fun inspite of Wizards blasted system.  +:bandhead=+::banghead: +:bandhead=+::banghead: +:bandhead=+::banghead:
