Karuba

Finally! After a long boat trip, you have reached the island of Karuba and can go on the hunt for hidden treasures. Lead your expedition team along a smart route through the jungle trails, pay attention to the other players, and above all start running in time, because only the first plays will secure the most valuable temple treasures!Everyone receives the same, shuffled jungle tiles... but who will be the one to lay down the fastest routes on their island?Think carefully about when to discard a tile in order to lead the adventurers towards the temple.Once an adventurer reaches their temple, he receives a temple treasure. Whoever is able to secure the most precious treasures wins the game.

Islands of Death Expansion: Fortress Malta

Alarmed by the huge losses inflicted by British submarines and planes on the convoys supplying Rommel's Afrika Korps, Axis commanders decided to capture their base, the fortress island of Malta. Between 1940 and 1942, several plans were advanced to capture Malta, but none actually carried out.In Island of Death, we looked at the 1942 plan, known as Operation Hercules. Fortress Malta extends that game to study the plans laid in 1940 and 1941, as well as many variations on the 1942 plan. Historian Davide Pastore has devoted his life to study of the invasion plan, and he reveals its inner workings in Fortress Malta along with Malta's history by David Lippman and Mike Bennighof. There are 420 new playing pieces for Island of Death included with this book, plus seven scenairos for their use.Fortress Malta is not a complete game. Ownership of Island of Death is necessary to play any of the scenarios included.

13 Days: The Cuban Missile Crisis, 1962

"We went eyeball to eyeball and the other fellow just blinked."- Dean Rusk, US Secretary of StateOn October 14, 1962, an American spy plane spotted a Communist missile base under construction in Cuba, ninety miles from the United States. The discovery triggered an open confrontation between the world's two great superpower, the US and the Soviet Union. For thirteen days, the world held its breath, waiting to see if brinkmanship and manoeuvring led to a peaceful settlement or World War Three. As Kennedy or Khrushchev, can YOU win a decisive political victory or will you be remembered as the leaser who plunged the world into atomic war?13 Days is a card-driven boardgame of the Crisis with player staking the roles of the two superpower leaders.

Against the Odds: Red Dragon, Blue Dragon

It is amazing that we know so little about the Chines Civil War... There are lots of games about the Russian Civil War, but fewer about a conflict that lasted longer, involved more people, and bears greater consequence all the way up until today. (Imagine Taiwan as a "White Russian" enclave, with over 23 million people, and we can see how remarkable that is.) The fighting lasted for 23 years! Not even the Japanese invasion of WWII completely put an end to the struggle, nor did battling a "common enemy" bring the two sides closer to reconciliation. We have heard of Chiang Kai-shek and Mao. After that, most of us draw a blank, nor can we name any battles. This game will study the most important battle - really a series of battles in the most conclusive campaign. While we have heard of the "Long March" and know it somehow saved the Communist forces  from disaster, it was the Huaihai Campaign, which effectively won the war. Though the dying would continue to two more years, this campaign fundamentally finished off the Nationalists. Now, you can explore all the reasons why. Red Dragon, Blue Dragon  brings gamers face to face with the series of battles that finally tipped the balance of power towards the Communist victory, with 20km hexes, mostly corps-sized units, and turns representing one week of action. The Nationalist advantages include air support, rail movement, and convoys, while the Communist player benefits from pontoon bridges, guerrilla movement, and "fast marches." Both sides can be affected by random events, and there are even rules for units "defecting." Differences like these give each side a distinctive flavour - it's not just red counters against blue counters, but two worlds colliding.
