No Retreat! The African Front

Following on the success of No Retreat: The Russian Front, where the Russian Front of World War II beckons, Victory Point Games' dynamic duo of game designer Carl Paradis and his trusty developer Alan Emrich have teamed up again to present the second chapter in this game series, No Retreat: The North Africa Front.  This time they take the gaming action tot he African ?Front, from the start of Operation Compass on 8 December 1940, through 1942 to the eviction of the Axis from Libya.Building on the notion of a card assisted game and death-or-glory victory conditions, No Retreat: The North African Front offers a narrative game rich in the feel for the ebb-and-flow of the campaign, wrapped around an exciting manoeuvre and combat system that harkens back to the glory days of classic wargaming, but includes all the modern features and plenty of innovations. Unlike other North Africa wargames, there are 5 mini-maps located at the various termini of manoeuvre in the campaign, and where battles are waged as fascinating mini-games in their own right. Players try to sweep each map and force the action onto the next one in an effort to push their opponent out of the game. This Deluxe Edition combines both the original game, featuring Five quick-playing scenarios, a Tournament Game, a Full-Fledged Campaign game, and a Bonus Invasion of Crete mini-game, all using deluxe components of Twilight Struggle Deluxe Edition quality. The looming Malta factor is accounted for most assiduously. While abstracted into many aspects of the game, players must always be mindful of Malta being made active (helping the Allies) or inactive  (assisting the Axis). The Italian forces have their rightful place in the story unfolding on the game board, and the remarkable paucity of units turns every counter and hex into the kind of wargaming puzzle reminiscent of the glory days of those great contests from the Avalon Hill General magazine. The use of Supply Point markers, received in a fast, hassle-free way, to seize the initiative, replace losses and recover shattered formations, to light up a map and begin operations there (i.e., conducting player turns on the map of manoeuvre and combat), and then to continue those player turns for another round. Each additional round of player turns must be paid for by another Supply Point, usually spent by the side that feels it is advantageous to press on, and keep the opponent hard pressed, recreating simply and effectively the lulls and starts in battlefield operations that were a signature of this campaign. The desert lies before you, and World War II is at stake. You must endure and prevail under the most surprising and gruelling of circumstances, for there is No Retreat!Game Contents:Three 2-sided mounted mapsOne sheet of 88, 2-sided square units55 Event cards (37 for NR2, 18 for Crete)One sheet of 112, 2-sided round markersRulebookPlay Book7 Player Aid CardsTwo 6-sided Dice

Firefly: The Game (Includes 5 extra promo cards)

"After the Earth was used up, we found a new solar system and hundreds of new Earths were terraformed and colonised. The central planets formed the Alliance and decided all the planets had to join under their rule. There was some disagreement on that point. After the War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of the system, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies; a ship would bring you work, a gun would help you keep it. A captain's goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying."-Shepherd Derrial BookFIND A CREWTravel to different locations, handpicking the best crew and gear. Purchase upgrades to customize your Firefly, readying yourself for the challenges ahead.FIND A JOBDeal with Contacts, reputable or not, to secure desperately needed work and build your reputation as a successful captain. Mansions of Madness: The Laboratory

The Story So FarIt has been two months now since your good friend Dr Crawford Tillinghast berated you angrily, called you a fool, and ejected you from his home and laboratory in a fit of fanatical rage. His outburst came as a surprise to you, since he was not a man prone to anger, especially when the cause was your awed and frightened line of query about a strange machine he envisioned during the course of his metaphysical research. The doctor took your questions as criticism, and lashed out in response. You have not spoken to the doctor since that day. But recently Gregory, Tillinghast's loyal manservant, contacted you about his employer. It seems the doctor has exiled himself to his attic laboratory, forsaking food and human contact. Gregory begged you to make one final attempt to restore your old friend to his senses. Despite the stinging memory of your last encounter with Tillinghast, you agree to pay the man a visit. After weeks of absence you return to that old, lonely house just off Benevolent Street. Gregory greets you at the door, candle in hand, and relief apparent on his weary and sunken face. "Thank you for coming. The doctor hasn't come down from his laboratory in days, and I fear for him. All the other servants have left, most without even bidding me farewell. I hear him screaming sometimes, up in the attic, even though I do not stray far from the front door these day. Let me accompany you to the lab, and let us hope that Crawford will listen to you this time."Up through the dark emptiness of the house you follow the bobbing candle in silence, listening to the distant droning of Tillinghast's machine which resonates thorough the floors, wall and ceiling. As you approach the attic stairs, you feel a sharp tingling in the air and see a dark shape standing  at the edge of the candle light. Gregory stops short and holds the candle aloft over his head to grant you both better vision...

Time is running out to save your crew and ship. Be the first to slingshot past your opponents and escape from the Gravwell!Your Flotilla of four ships has survived passage through a black hole. You have entered a new physical dimension where even gravity behaves differently. Now out of fuel, you must harvest basic elements from the surrounding space dust and asteroids to move your spaceship. You typically travel toward the nearest object, usually another ship. But they may not always be where you thought they would be. Sometimes you'll move forward, sometimes backwards. It's a real mind-bender!Draft fuel cards carefully, as the fastest card isn't always the best!Tractor Beams and Repulsor Rays add to the fun!Includes multiple game variants, so no two games will ever be the same.Game Components:1 Game Board26 Fuel Cards4 Emergency Stop Cards6 Spaceship Miniatures with bases1 Round-Tracking Pawn1 Rulebook

Camelot the Build

Imagine you're a pretty successful sort of chap living in Arthurian Albion. Into mosaics, tapestries, designer saddle bags - that sort of thing. You drink in the right inns, cultivate the merchant classes and avoid noisy oiks with swords, especially The Knights of the Round Table - a noxious bunch of hooligans with personal hygiene issues and the collective IQ of a goldfish. All is going swimmingly until one day Sir Bedevere stops you in the street.'Ah! Citizen. Spare me a few minutes, I understand you're one of these arty-farty types. A creative. Full of sneaky new ideas... Yes? There's no need to try and shuffle off like that. No really, I've nothng against arty-farty types. Some of my best friends were arty-farty types before Gawaine got to them. So you hear me out and I'll keep Gawaine away from you. OK?You see, King Arthur needs your help on some tricky domestic issues. No, not Guinevere and her all night 'strategy meetings' with Lancelot or Merlin with his silly hat and so-called magic. They're just background noise these days. No, it's Camelot. You know, the castley thing on the hill. His Mightiness has build the walls, but can't decide where everything should go. Left to him, the bath house would be in the Great Hall and the Round Table out in the garden. Domestic is not really his bag, and queenie is too busy moping to get a grip. So do yourself a favour, old son, and turn up there tomorrow to sort it all out for him. And bring a few of your mates with you.If arty-farty types like you have mates, that is.'That's blown it. It's sort out Camelot, or else.Else being the name of Gawaine's sword.
