In June 540, Raedwald had replaced his losses and returned to raid the
kingdom of Caer Colun.
This time he stole some cattle and Lord Uther set off in pursuit; the
Saxons got only one turn of head start, but the Britons came on on the
opposite side of the table. The Britons got hung up in combats while
the cattle were driven steadily away by on group of warriors; only
late in the game did one unit rush to intercept, driving off the
cattle escorts but then being surrounded and cut down; the Saxons
manage to catch the cattle again before they ran off. A solid Saxon
win (5 points), and the Britons took heavy losses, so the Saxons
raided unopposed for two months. This gave them enough wealth for
Raedwald to shower his followers with wealth and be proclaimed
Warlord. He has also hired a Scop to proclaim his greatness (while the
Britons have been joined by a priest as a result of their successful
church defence earlier).
So now the Saxons can try to take territory; we shall have a battle!
More to follow with we hope pictures of the carnage....
