Pesky Humanoids
We get together to discuss how best to bring down the Barelin rule on Lorin.  We have blockaded their port, intercepted their fresh troops, stole a lot of their cavalry horses and stolen a big chunk of their payroll.  We further discuss the situation with Major Tarleton our Commander, he thinks we should go to the Barelin mainland and try political methods.  We need to get in contact with the marshals who have been sympathetic to our plight, plus if we talk to Amber she may have developed some useful connections.  We should also liaise with Prince Seamus, heir to the throne of Valon and Garith.  He may also prove to be a good suitor for Amber.  Our other gamble would be to contact the High Chief Justice who attended Kalan Ghents funeral and may listen to our pleas of corruption by the governor.
Before we can plan further we get a message from the rebels that large groups of humanoids are massing and are marching on rebel held territory and this may have been instigated by someone in the Governors staff.  We decide against looking for evidence at the Governor’s mansion as this is sure to be well guarded, but instead should find this evidence in the humanoids camps.
Krachtig scouts the camp of a large band (200+) of ogres. He locates the leader and comes back with the information, which we use to scry the area.  The leader has a large tent which we think we can fold into with some silenced coins.  Preparations are made and we fold in, the silenced coins are tossed around but the tent is larger than we realized, not all areas are covered.  Barrigan opens the flap of the tent and quickly kill the two guards outside, the Ogre leader is a tough fighter and his concubines get in our way.  Lanneus seems to have forgotten our mission to bring their leader out alive as he skewers him with his trident.  Taran, having dispatched one of the concubines, strides over and smacks the leader upside his head with the flat of his sword rendering the large ogre unconscious.  Horns are sounded outside the tent and we quickly gather some chests and the slumped ogre chief and fold out of there.
Under questioning the ogre confirms he was paid a lot of gold by a Barelin Army general to mobilize the tribes against the rebels.  From paperwork found in one of the chests this confirms this and even better it seems to be signed by the general who is after our squad and particularly Taran after he had slept with the man’s wife.
Krachtig comes up with a plan to offer the ogre chief more gold to turn against the orc and goblin armies that are also massing.  He agrees if we can join in the attack and heal up his followers afterwards.  We talk long about this and finally decide to deal with the ogres, as this will help to get rid of more humanoids and gain us further evidence.
The orcs number over a thousand but we agree to attack one perimeter of their palisade while the ogres attack from the opposite side.  The signal to attack will be a huge lightning bolt from the sky.  Taran crouches near the perimeter of the encampment with an invisibility spell cast on him and conjures forth a huge lightning bolt from the clouds overhead, Corrinne casts a fireball and Barrigan, Lanneus and Galvish rush to engage the hordes of orcs.  Krachtig hangs back and soon spots a group of humans appear on our flank, they launch volleys of arrows into our ranks and cast lightning bolts and death rays at us.  Corrinne is the victim of a Finger of Death and succumbs to the spell, but not before she has launched a chain lightning into their ranks.  Lanneus and Barrigan are stabbed in the back by thieves appearing behind them but survive the sneaky attcks and turn round to kill their assailants. Krachtig fires illusory fireballs and confusion spells against the archers and spellcasters, but he is also targeted with spells and missiles. When Corrinne falls Taran comes back to fight this new group as does Barrigan, between them they kill off the last of the archers and a priest and Krachtig stuns the mage with a powerful spell.  Galvish has his foot lopped off in combat and has to retreat, we decide this is the time to flee the field and let the ogres finish off the fight.
We question the mage and restore life to Corrinne.  The mage volunteers that he was laying in wait for our group after we had raided the ogre camp and there were likely to be other teams waiting at the other humanoid camps for us.  We fold back to the battlefield as the ogres are rounding up some orc slaves and generally looting the camp.  We manage to gain some paperwork with more incriminating evidence against the Barelin general.
One more raid against a huge goblin camp yields similar results with the ogres victorious, us encountering another group of humans, no new written evidence is found but we feel like we have done enough to thwart the humanoids plans and the rebel armies can deal with the bugbear and hobgoblin threats.
Arriving on the Barelin mainland we contact the marshals and hand over our new evidence against the governor and general.  We also manage to locate the Chief Justice who was present at Kalans funeral, through the letter that Kalan had asked to be sent to her.  All we need to do is decide how to approach her and say the right thing that doesn’t result in our immediate arrest.
