I need 3-4 brave persons happy to enter the world of exalted at least once a month & carry on the epic started with A Policeman's Lot

& in any event Character generation is fun in and of itself

In theory, I am in. At the very least, we'll see how it goes.

Ok, doing my pre-character research.

Infernals/green sun princes are dumb to the point of being painful to read, apparently. I was definately confusing them and Abyssals in my head. (To my mind, the names would almost work better the other way around, but that might just be my D&D cosmology talking).

Lunars are still a little interesting, but their plans in general aren't exactly inspiring. I've also been reading up on Sidereals and forgot how much they are the problem.

Have you come to a conclusion as to what you are going to play or do I have to make Rakasi bring all the books on Thursday. Don't forget if you are going with the Sidereal concept then they are complex characters and are almost always playing a role playing game within a role playing game as there is the sidereal and then there are the character or characters they chose to present to the world.

I have printed out a selection of Character sheets for the session so there will be spares and plenty of choice. We will be using first edition rules for the kick off but may alter to second when & if I get my head round the differences and changes.

is any one else interested? I would particularly like Zarni on strength as he is a wonderful roleplayer and a pleasure to gm as is Oskar of this parish.

Embarrassed I was but I never quite got my head around some of the changed charms, excellencies in particular  and when I started A Policeman's lot, I used first edition as it was easyer to mix with Old World of Darkness and it stayed that way when the OH Shiny, must stroke it, BOOM! happened and it went all exalted rather than a mixture, as I had found I had forgotten most of what I knew about second edition. Embarrassed & stuck with first edition

Far as I can figure out, the majority of the changes are concerning combat and social combat. Aren't Excellencies just charms that give out extra dice or Successes?

true but I still find them confusing, I need to play a bit to clarify it for me I learn much better by doing than reading alone. The combat system and the social combat system are a bit over complicated to mesh with WOD where the soak dice pools & simple opposed rolls of first edition work better. I will convert to second edition but it will take some work & I have too much of that already I fear.

Perhaps we should slap some pre-gens together and have a rp-free combat knockaround or something, sometime between sessions, to help us figure it out? I suspect that it's an elegent combat system once you get past the immediate learning of rules.

I agree & I was trying to get Raksi, who knows the system and has all the books to hand for second edition to run me through a solo just for that purpose.
