Breaking news:

After 20 years of requests Phil has finally succumbed to the pressure and has organised an Autumn B&P
- just a one-day event this year

There will be an Autumn Mini-Beer & Pretzels Sunday 30th October 2011
10:00am - 7:00pm at the Burton Town Hall

The usual good food and beer, and plentiful free parking. We will have the latest games from Essen, and a selection from the board games library. We anticipate plenty of miniature games too, more details will go up on the Spirit Games website as the summer progresses.

I am more than up for this & I am planing something spectacular by way of wargaming for it. I am also intending to Run Beer & Lard II at the Salvation Army on Saturday 29th so those who have to travel can make a weekend of it.

Well we have an extra Beer & Pretzels this year so whose planning on coming and what are they thinking of playing?

If you have a game (RPG, CCG, Boardgame, Miniature, Wargame etc. etc) then feel free to post it here or in the main Beer & Pretzels area to drum yourself up interest and players.

Not sure yet what I will be brining but most likely too much, good gaming and see you all there.

** Updates **
There are plenty of miniatures games planned, including A Song of Blades and Heroes.

Several sessions of the new Dead Stop Walking RPG are already booked, there will be a game of Bean! D2 RPG, and we should also have an advanced PDF copy of the new Pathfinder Beginner Box available for use.

Let us know about any games you want to recruit players for or, even better, log in to the Events section of Spirit Games and put up your own recruiting notice which you can then update whenever required.

There is a bewildering array of Magic: The Gathering mini tournaments lined up, including a Magic Celebration Part 2 with free booster packs. In addition, we will have a few displays of 2012 boosters at a special show price of £85.00 (including all discounts) as an extra treat for our Magic players.

I had a great time despite not being able to run the WWI demo, this was all my fault as I wanted to run Storming the Hun II (STH II)again but remembered at the last minute that the Strong point for STH II trenches where too narrow for the bases on the  & set about doing another one which though finished was still wet with paint this morning, even though I had used acrylic paint & painted the last bit at around 3am yesterday.

It was just cold enough to really slow down the drying times for the paint.

I played Phantom League with the expansion mostly harmless which is pretty much Elite the board game & captures all the atmosphere of the original but in a competitive & cooperative multiplayer game. Its very good and lots of fun but was a bit sloe until we got our heads around the game play & basic strategy after which it fairly sped along. A good game & a great one if you like the theme.

I also played i1th hour which looks to have lots of potential as a game which combines elements of Cluedo & Archam type games with the revelation of a traitor wasn't more than a run trough to clarify the mechanics which are much simpler than they look, however the strategy is at this point any ones guess as every one can play any one of eight characters and use their special abilities.

as ever with these I look for ward to the next one.
