Back Under the Waves

Written this 24th Day of Tunisia, 210 F.A.

by Barrigan Stonebeak: War-Priest of Clangeddin Silverbeeard

Finally the truth is recorded in the company ledger.  Too often, the record is corrupted by those half-elf wusses.  I don’t know what happened to the poor recorder—perhaps he got a hang-nail or something—but I have been left with recording the exploits of our unit.   I will do the best that I can.

23 Tunisia, 210 F.A.

While wintering in the town of Jan’s Landing, we received word that several farms on the outskirts of the town had been attacked.  Two of the local families had been taken by their attackers:

   Dwyers Farm:
      Basil Dwyers (owner)
      Lydia Dwyers (wife)
      Phillip “Pip” Dwyers (child)

   Seer Farm:
      Barnald Seer (owner)
      Wendellyn Seer (wife)
      Garth Tarkin (hand)

The evidence pointed to a Sahuagin attack.  We sent our forces into the watery deep to find and defeat the Sahuagin presence.  Of course it had to be a descent into the water—it seems I can’t avoid the horrible environment with these Manannan MacLir worshipping Half-elves around!

We discovered a Sahuagin fort, hidden in the depths off of our coast.  We slayed the Sahuagin with abandon, leaving none alive.  The combat was particularly difficult.  We were not terribly threatened (it certainly takes more than some fish-fillets to threaten a War-Priest of Clangeddin Silverbeard!), but the combat took quite awhile to clean up.  Fighting in this cursed water environment strips away much of our fighting ability.  If we wind up wandering about under the waves where no sane being without fins belongs, we shall have to find a way to overcome this handicap!  It would have been nice to have that priest, Taran along—as he has some blade blessed by Manannan that allows it to function under water---but no, he had some horrible affliction that kept him at home….probably a hemorrhoid or something.

When searching the Sahuagin fort, we found that they had a prisoner.  The prisoner was a Human Paladin of ManannnanMacLir (Lannaeus Torrid) who pledged to help our cause for a year in exchange for rescuing him.  We’ll see if he proves worth the effort, just what we need is another water-loving worshipper of that god! But at least he is Human instead of part-elf….
After determining that the attack was from forces farther along the coast (most likely slavers or pirates), we determined to go after the villains by ship (better than underwater, but no picnic).
We returned to our base to heal and recover.  We found the butt-sore priest able to accompany us finally.  We also learned that Shaerincal the Druid was monitoring the current events.  She suggested that we go after the pirates in the Coastal Patrol Boat and try to intercept them.  She promised to send favorable winds for our ship and would have the local Druid up the coast send contrary winds for the slavers.
